SRM Software 6.0

Managing equipment usage and maintenance

SRM Software 6.0 gives companies a complete view of their equipment line and a snapshot of how effectively equipment is being used.

For companies that lease construction equipment as well as for those that rent it, Texada Software has a new software program that manages the life cycle of equipment assets from acquisition through maintenance and improvements to the end of its useful life. Texada’s Systematic Rental Management Software 6.0 can help construction companies make better use of their equipment dollars.

COO Nigel Miller says that SRM 6.0 can give a company a complete view of its equipment and how it’s being used. “How are you utilizing the equipment if you are managing it on a rental basis?” he says. “The software will allow you to see what revenue that asset generates.”

By seeing the utilization costs, a company can determine if it is more cost effective to buy or own a piece of equipment. Miller says a user can look at the overall utilization of equipment to see, for example, that a particular piece is in use 70% of the time, which may mean that it is being used well. “But if that number changes to 90% utilization, that might mean you need to get more equipment,” he says. “Or if it’s just 20%, it may mean you have too much equipment.”

The software also tracks the maintenance schedules of equipment as well as any improvements made to them. “If you add a bigger bucket, that’s managed by the software as well,” Miller says.

All the information captured by SRM 6.0 is fed into the customer’s financial software package by integrating transaction summaries into back-end financials. It provides a database combined with a reporting engine that tracks changes using key performance indicators for days, weeks, months and quarters.

SRM 6.0 also allows companies to manage equipment locations and maintenance schedules. “It gives management the level of detail it needs to know,” Miller says.

Miller says that the software is easy to use. “It was built for speed and for people who are used to using function keys and quick codes,” he adds. “They don’t need to use a mouse, and they can use it in the field.”

Texada offers Web-based training. “We allow the users to take the course at their own pace,” Miller says. “They can even write tests.” Onsite training is also available.

SRM 6.0 offers support for Oracle SQL and Microsoft SQL.
